NEW YORK | 2 World Trade Center | 1,226 FT | 55 FLOORS

I guess I gotta make model number…I don’t f-ing know anymore

I mean, it’s either just the bottom tier being slightly bigger, or the entire tower getting slightly stretched East-to-West (which I think is unlikely based on all renders?).

There it is! The 5th tier is 1.5x the width of a standard tier:

And that explains the surprisingly larger footprint I discussed a few posts back

I’m not a fan of this building at all, it just doesn’t seem like a fit for the WTC site. Still glad something is finally going to rise, maybe with time it’ll grow on me.

It fits better than the diamond roof design. No other tower in the complex has a sloping roof line.

Yeah I think what is bothersome proportion-wise is it looks like it was like “oh crap, gotta fit two setbacks in the space of one” by the time it gets to the top. It gives this feeling of slow, methodical dominance as it rises and then a quick run off the cliff into nothing.

The more I look at it, I realize it’s not the height that is as bothersome as the way it’s configured. I think I would have preferred 5 (equal?) steps instead 7. It’s just not elegant.

What is the model building on the far right across the street? Never mind, I found the 5 WCT thread -

They set up another construction gate entrance up on the southern side next to the second emergency evacuation route. Currently also in the process of setting up more of the permanent white fencing on the south side too

I’m going to assume the oculus beer garden will be gone once they fence off the west side of the site?

Would love to see another photo from this vantage point if you feel generous lol

What a shame this wasn’t the final choice. This was probably the most thoughtful and meaningful of all the proposals.

It’s not surprising (to me, ask least) that this was bypassed for the current design (very nice but nothing near as special as the BIG design).

Honestly I thought that was the worst design, well unless you include the Deutsche Bank design

The tower will top out in 2028 and cranes are expected in August

Hmm that timeline seems hard to believe to top out. It also doesn’t make sense it would top out beginning of 2028 but not open until 2031
