No more spires please!

I really enjoy your creative spirit. I like the design. I do not feel this idea is appropriate for the nearby Chrysler Bld. It is distracting from the historic spire of 405 Lexington St. I think your design would be better in suburbia or somewhere away from the art deco density of that region in Manhattan. You are very talented by the way.

The concept and renderings are amazing^. I would love to see that built for the Hyatt site.

Interesting…wonder if that’s the massing or the actual design. Kinda wish it tapered a bit more and had a more dramatic top but it’s certainly better than a box! Nice height too! If they get the with-action massing this will be NYC’s first 500 m roof!

The title says massing. I wonder if it will be even taller with a crown and a spire

Thanks! I only skimmed the documents so far, so I guess I didn’t notice it said that.

Will any of the elements of the Commodore Hotel be incorporated into the new Commodore Tower (or whatever it ends up being named)?

Doubt it. The base is cantilevered like 270 Park Ave, possibly a requirement of the zoning

Wow. This will really dwarf the Chrysler Building. I hope the design is interesting and pretty enough for that to be worth it.

This is exciting to me! I hope this gets the green light with no reduction in height.

Hell yes. All the signs were pointing to a new tallest roof height here, and I’m thrilled that that seems to be the plan.

The massing is a little curious. I definitely expected it to be set further back to preserve more of a sightline to the Chrysler. I wouldn’t be surprised if this goes through a few revisions before the city gives the okay – but in an exciting twist to the usual order of things, I would expect any changes (e.g. a more aggressive setback, a bigger cantilever/more significant taper at the base) to make the tower taller, rather than shorter.
