“Legion Investment Group LLC and Nahla Capital are developing a 22-unit luxury condominium development at the southwest corner of Madison Avenue and 84th Street in the Carnegie Hill neighborhood of the Upper East Side. The site was previously comprised of five buildings, 22-26 East 84th and 1122 and 1128 Madison Avenue, as well as air rights from neighboring properties. The new building designed by Hill West Architects will stand 18-stories, 210 feet tall to the highest occupied floor. Many homes will feature panoramic views of Central Park.”
What was there:
Is this the same site?
Same assemblage, seems that they’re going with 1124 Madison as the combined address.
" Poised to become the Upper East Side’s most expensive condominium by starting price, the 22-story limestone-wrapped tower will introduce 26 expansive residences to the corner of Madison Avenue and East 84th Street, just steps from Central Park and the Metropolitan Museum of Art."
Thanks for posting that article above; that was enlightened to read .
Here is my favorite quote, regarding Sofields’ design philosophy.
Quote - "Unlike many architects who begin with the building’s exterior, Sofield works from the inside out, designing apartments first and letting the structure follow, ensuring flow, light, and functionality take precedence." End Quote
Now that is something special: he is a brilliant Architect IMHO. This is the Vitruvian Principle of “usefulness” leading his design approach to the Triad: Beauty, Usefulness, Solidity.
His other NYC designs (135 E 79, Beckford House, Beckford Tower) don’t really look like they were designed from the inside out. They’re pretty symmetrical, dressed up rectangles. Not that there’s much to complain about fancy limestone towers.
