Nope the tilting apartment near the South Street Seaport wins the prize for most troubled project of recent years. Talk about a disaster!
That is true. I can now think of three of the most “completion cursed” projects: South Street Seaport is definitely top of that list. It would be interesting to list the concept-to-completion time frame for each of the many projects we follow; starting with the beginning of the design phase, ending with the ‘ready for occupancy’ date.
My guess for that time-frame on 111West 57th Street is about 8 years: could be more - but not less.

When will they test the lighting for the crown?
Could likely take months before it’s done. Hopefully we’ll see tests in March or April. These LED jobs are done by specialist lighting designers (the type of folks who work on concerts and stadiums and stuff) and they generally wait until all construction is complete and take their time doing it
Why is this building so dark on top at night? It almost disappears into the darkness so you cannot see it at all.

Apparently pieces of ice have been falling from
This building
The thump was loud af #nyc #nyclife #nycproblems #omg #newyorker #newyorklife?
Yeah, happening in Chicago as well
Happens at One WTC too. It’s because the panels on the crown (or on the top mechanical vent floors in 1WTCs case) are not warm like the facade covering an occupied floor, so the rainwater freezes as a sheet on the glass/metal panel and then falls of when it thaws
Progress Report on 111 West 57th Street!
Those comments on yimby are pretty funny. Funny how they bring up topics like Russia and China, when it has nothing to do with this tower.
The comments on Yimby are stupid. Always have been, always will be. I tried to comment there a few times but every time I do my comments just get deleted for some reason.
If you need a better reason for why residential FAR should be removed, remember this building (along with the renovated Steinway hall) only have 74 residences. That’s it. In the entirety of this massive tower.
The Brooklyn Tower will have something like 475 residences.
