Zipping, finally.
Finally!!! With the crane coming down, looks like we’re on track to ideally see this externally finished by the end of the summer and lit up by the fall! Along with CPT’s lighting, NY is about to look a bit more futuristic and sci-fi!
Really looking forward to the crown lit at night.
Also don’t forget the strips of light highlighting the curves on the terracotta. I can’t wait for all of the decorative lighting!!

I’m curious as to how this is going to look…
Perhaps most spectacularly, at night 111 West 57th Street’s lighting design is in tune with the lunar cycle, transitioning from a dimmer glow during the full moon to a brighter luminosity with a crescent moon. The tower’s lustrous crown connects to the surrounding city, sparking a conversation between the moon, the skyline, and the inhabitants of the city.
Like all NYC building lighting, never as good as the renders/what one hopes
This building hasn’t disappointed…yet, let’s hope not.
That’s what I’m waiting for; this massive beacon to be lit up at night, crown and all! This is a tower which will set a precedent for all others after it! Only a matter of weeks (ideally) til they start testing the lights!
Wikipedia page is pretty thorough.
How the heck can a crane take ‘itself’ apart? To fully understand the process, this video does show how it is done. A fascinating process indeed…
And this one is even better: the animation helps -
First time back in the city since last fall, yesterday. The tower has so much presence, it’s amazing.
I still can’t get over how ridiculously tall and skinny this thing is.
