Baronson, you are a busy dude, quite a dump! Thanks for all of the pictures. It’s cool how the north east glass corner of 111 W 57 blends into the glass of CPT making 111 W 57 look even skinnier than it is ( in the first 3 pictures).

I may eventually get used to it, but I think it is an eyesore. Makes me think of the blade of knife. I would personally have done something like an octagonal floor plate once it is free of the surrounding buildings. On one side the elevation does not have ANY setbacks, right? I need too be sold the virtues of this building. It makes the punctured box at 432 Park Avenue look good. What am I missing?

The missing facade panels from the crown are now fully installed, but they are significantly lighter than the rest of the panels. I remember the whole crown looking quite gold a year and a half ago when they started putting it in, so maybe it is just the effect of weathering. In any case, hopefully the crane comes down ASAP now.

Ok so I’m not going crazy. I noticed when I took some pics last week. The color difference really stands out. But I guess it will even out over time.

Are the bronze accents over the windows on the east and west sides also darkening? All the bronze looked really good when it was bright and new.

The crown doesn’t look finished to me. There are spaces between the panels on top. Is that the way it is supposed to look?

Yes. Wind pass through and lighting.

^ Incredible pics!! I wonder how people are still able to traverse 111W57 and get a drone up there :flushed: Looks like a pretty HQ drone from the pic of the guy atop it!

This picture is the best example I’ve seen that shows the true height difference between those three buildings.

And what’s crazy is that you can even see the distant mountains in New Jersey

Does anybody know how JDS will be compensated for the crane mishap (negligence)? Is it covered by insurance? Is the crane company liable? Just wondering, happy to see it coming down.

This is a interesting, but controversial, subject to address here on the forum. There are several various law suits, and then there the case of one of the original investors who filed a claim that the developer & lender colluded to cheat them out of their original investment.

Where those costs, for the crane and otherwise, are being absorbed will remain mired in obfuscation and secrecy. I think someone needs to do a book on the SAGA of 111 W 57th St starting from the design development stage all the way through to completion and occupancy.

I know one thing for sure; the original estimate for the cost for the crane was way underbid - that is one of many reasons there were massive cost overruns on this project from the very beginning.

This story will be told somewhere, someday, but we are not going to get the nitty gritty details here: the silence will be defining.

For those interested in looking into the history - this is a good place to start.

If you think that’s bad, you should see all of the complaints on the NYC DOB
