NEW YORK | 1 Park Row | 305 FT | 23 FLOORS

This looks great.

This block has gone from horrendous to stupendous in a few years.

This is now below grade, and may have shifted from demo. to actual construction.

Funny how the site looks almost exactly the same as it did like, twenty years ago. Thank god that turd didn’t live too long.

Thanks for sharing. That’s a neat comparison.

That building was essentially just a placeholder. Like the old prewar ‘taxpayer’ retail buildings. Although some of those ended up staying around a lot longer than they were supposed to

Still blows my mind that that block, facing City Hall, stayed like that for ONE HUNDRED (something) YEARS

Looks like it will work well. Both modern in a nice way and compatible with older buildings nearby. Note how the cornice line of the building on the left meshes with the change in the new building at the top of the base floors. That’s a welcome design feature.

The area has really improved a lot in the last few years.

This building is half the height it should be, but that new rendering is very clean.

When you think that around 1900 the Park Row Building was the tallest skyscraper in the world.

Mackensen is referring to the building next door to 1 Park Row. It gives context to 1 Park Row. You’re not a mod, no need to dictate to the actual mod the rules of the forum pls.

I will NEVER understand how this section of the city took this long to look complete.

What do you mean this section of the city? This stretch of Park Row or the amount of time it’s taken to redevelop it? Which considering it only been 7 years from when 1 Beekman was planned to now is not that long.

Everything surrounding the Park Row building in the picture facing the park. Boggles my mind that those buildings took that long to be raised. I would say that after this project, everything surrounding City Hall Park (except maybe Pace) looks pretty complete.

Ah, gotcha, thanks for that clarification.

I do agree that it’s amazing that the other low lying buildings kept put for quite a long time, but I think all the redevelopments in the area, mostly around the Park Row Building, have sprung up in a fairly short amount of time, under a decade.
