The Connecticut DOT selected a developer to turn the surface parking to the north of the Union Station parking garage that it owns into two 16-story towers consisting of 470 units (of which 118 to be affordable), ~28,000 s.f., and 294 parking spaces: CTDOT Announces Selection of Developer for Major TOD at New Haven Union Station .
At 16 stories, this building could make a push to be among New Haven’s top 5 tallest and will create a southward extension to the city’s skyline since there aren’t really any tall buildings south of Oak Street / Route 34 - that is unless the larger Church Street South / Union Square project across the street is built out first.
Better renderings are on the developer’s website, which also notes that construction is expected to break ground in late 2026: Union Station Redevelopment | New Haven, CT | Mixed-Use | Gilbane Development
