MIAMI | Calle 8 | 856 FT | 52 FLOORS

A pre-application has just been filed with Miami-Dade planners for a new tower in Brickell with an iconic design.

The project is tentatively named Calle 8, with Millennium Developments of Brickell, LLC listed as the developer.

According to the filing, Calle 8 is proposed to rise 57 stories, or 685 feet above ground level and 699 feet above sea level, and include:

  • 464 residential units (252 studios, 37 one-bedrooms, 167 two-bedrooms, 7 three-bedrooms, and 1 penthouse)
  • Two options – either a flexible multi-level Concert Hall, or a multi-story retail complex which can accommodate a department store or similar retail vendor (both options are shown on the plans as being on levels ground through 5)
  • 467 parking spaces on eleven levels

Co-working space is shown on level 12.

Amenities are shown on levels 33, 35, 36, and 37 (the pool deck is on level 35).

In May, the Federal Aviation Administration issued a letter approving a tower height of 685 feet above ground, or 699 feet above sea level. The FAA letter was sent to German Coto of Millennium on May 15.

Part of the property is currently operated as a gas station.

Also planned for the same block is PMG’s Sentral Brickell, with 43 and 31-story towers including 803 residential units, Menesse Brickell with 350 units in a 39-story tower, and Westpine with 328 units in a 43-story tower.

BMA Architects is the architect for Calle 8.

So many new towers in Miami approaching 900 feet!

People haven’t been getting this high in South Florida since the 1980s cocaine boom!
