WGT certainly makes LA looking more vertical. Taken 25 Aug 2016.

Skyline of LA with newly added Wilshire Grand Tower spire. I took pictures from Griffith Observatory on Sep 4, 2016.

Nice to see a spire in LA! I like skylines with at least a single spire. It adds personality.

Spire was added. Architecturally topped out.

Shots of the WG’s lighting scheme tests by Hunter Kerhart for Urbanize LA

Over the past month, the Wilshire Grand Center has begun testing the array of LED lights within its sail-like crown. Los Angeles-based architectural photographer Hunter Kerhart has captured images of the process, which can be seen below.

From Tuesday through Thursday evenings, the 1,100-foot-tall tower will display the colors of a Los Angeles sunset, in a group effort to promote the City’s bid for the 2024 Summer Olympics. Other local landmarks including the U.S. Bank Tower, Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art will also be lit with tones of yellow, orange, red and purple.

(FYI, the spire lighting is still incomplete – but it will all be lit up eventually, not just the little stump at the base of it)

I like this tower but they totally botched the spire lighting on this one. Luckily the LEDs on the rest of the building are still a pretty high impact visual.

Man this was such a good project. Probably the most impactful skyscraper since the US bank tower was completed.

Hopefully we can see more big ones go up, even taller than this one. LA should have a skyline rivaling Chicago.

There is one site with good potential which had been proposed for LAs new tallest but the developer got caught up in a corruption bust I think, still a good site so I wonder what the new devs will do.

LA is spread out so much more than Chicago. I doubt that it will ever have that kind of mass.
