A development project has been approved for 511 Newark Avenue in Jersey City, replacing the long-standing E. Pompilio & Sons monument business, which had operated there since 1929. The Jersey City Planning Board gave the green light in April 2023.
Height: 5 stories, approximately 52 feet tall
Residential Units: 40 studio apartments, some featuring rear balconies
Parking: No car parking, but 28 ground-level bicycle parking spots are included
They are actually micro-units, definitely smaller than typical studios.
This area is not part of the Journal Square 2060 zoning so it didn’t get any density boosts unfortunately. More to come on this block, though! I’ll take any density over the parking lots that are there now.
