Incredible. The Village is really set to fill out quickly now. Is there any word on what the latest plans are for the Lackawanna Center just North of this site? it’s quite the eyesore at the moment.
Technically it’s Lackawanna (or “the Horseshoe” or “St Lucy’s” to real old-timers), not the Village but yeah, hopefully this can go off without a hitch!
No public plans for Lackawanna Terminal. Any plan would have to preserve the existing structure (but could build above it)
Some new (very much AI-looking) renders from a presentation, seemingly from late last year. More info, including a video, here: Holland Gardens Community | Home
Late 2026 start date, according to the website
Approved by the Planning Board on Tuesday.
More details: the towers are 24 and 19 stories now rather than 18 and 23 stories, and the unit count went from 719 to 753 with 28 more senior housing units. The changes were finalized last August before the current mayor took office.
We all know the current mayor would be pushing for less housing and higher prices…
New renderings have been revealed for Holland Gardens, a forthcoming 24-story mixed-use public housing project at 235 16th Street in Jersey City, New Jersey. Designed by PS&S Architects and developed by WinnDevelopment, the 3.3-acre complex will yield 753 rental units, including senior housing, along with 24,000 square feet of commercial space and a community facility. The project will also include a new branch of the Jersey City Free Public Library and Jersey City Housing Authority (JCHA), 385 parking spaces, and 380 bicycle parking spots. The property is bounded by 14th and 16th Streets, Erie Street, and Jersey Avenue.
merge?
Bizarre that yimby is posting renderings posted on its own forums 3 years ago as news ![]()
Why ai?
The buildings in Manhattan in the wide shot and St. Lucy’s facing the wrong direction in the third image (although I guess that one could be a human error)
You think the whole rendering is ai?
Not totally sure how its typically done but I would imagine the architectural design is handcrafted in some way and then they use AI to place it in the scene.
