This is what the site plan looks like. The tower going up now is the grey one (Phase I). The western side is to be the Phase II tower and the extension of Monmouth Street.
What you’re seeing may be the Monmouth Street extension? Or are you talking about the podium of phase 1 (the gray tetris piece to the west of the phase I tower’s gray “L” shape)?

I also noticed some piling going on a month or so ago, although I couldn’t quite pinpoint it. It seemed to be in the area of Phase II, if it was on the site at all. If I find the photo I’ll share.
In the meantime, here it is from around a week ago

The base of this one looks good but the overall tower looks terrible. One of the ugliest new towers in JC.

Looking west along 15th St. Tower 2 is in the back left. Tower 1’s lobby is in the foreground on the left. The renovated portion of the Emerson factory is on the right. There will be a third tower behind the Emerson factory.
