JERSEY CITY | 2875 Kennedy Blvd | 550+ FT | 54 FLOORS

790 residential units, almost 60,000 sf of retail space, and landscape features. 51 floors.

60k sq ft is a lot of retail…should be enough for a supermarket! The Target across the street at The Journal will be 44,000 sq ft.

Current site (all the 1-2-story buildings between the two taller buildings)

Wow, it will be really amazing if this part of town starts to get redevelopment.

This tower will likely grow to 54 floors due to a circulation bonus in exchange for a pedestrian connection to Tonnele Ave that will shorten the distance between PATH and the Marion neighborhood. And the supermarket is confirmed…will excite a lot of people if the current rumors about who the supermarket tenant will be are true (personally I’m not a big fan of this chain though).

I would hope the 60K SF of retail is divided amongst several spaces rather than one giant tenant. This would better align with the commercial density of the storefronts along that stretch of JFK.

Obviously something like a Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods would be cool, but would the area need another supermarket with Target opening right across the street?

Target does not count as a grocery store. So yes, a full sized grocery store would be a very welcome addition to the growing neighborhood. So many of the retail storefronts along Bergen and JFK are still empty. I just bought a condo nearby, a grocery store would be amazing lol.

I know, I know. I just want more sit-down restaurants/nightlife options in Journal Square. BRBQ at Journal Square Urby is a start, but not enough!

Micromanaging retail spaces never works. They’ll follow all the additional customers eventually.
