U.S. Supertall List via CTBUH data. 300.0 m or greater.
Crazy to see Newark on that list
Agreed. I’m not holding my breath on that one though
Time for some math using emporis figures for highrises/skyscrapers.
- 6,281 high-rise building
- 933 skyscrapers
Skyscrapers + High Rises (NYC)= 7214
Now thats not including JC and the proxy cities. Only NYC core.
Factor in JC:
- 154 high-rise building
- 60 skyscraper
Skyscrapers + High Rises (NYC + JC) = 7428
Factor in Fort Lee:
- 37 high-rise building
- 3 skyscrapers
Skyscrapers + High Rises (NYC + JC + Fort Lee) = 7468
Rinse and repeat for other proxy cities. Hell, one more!
Lets do Newark, NJ:
- 162 high-rise building
- 9 skyscraper
Skyscrapers + High Rises (NYC + JC + Fort Lee + Newark) = 7639
Impressive statistics. I assume that’s given the norm of skyscrapers being over 150 m?
330 ft + is a skyscraper.
High rise is 10 floors/100ft to 329 ft. How they classify it.
I had always heard 150 meters or ~492 feet

Vanderbilt got a height cut by 100ft if I’m not mistaken. Doesn’t change it’s position in the list. But yea i think it’s 1401 now
Yup, 1,401
Current Complete skyscrapers (Because why not). Also note the numbers in reference to how much is rising/in the pipeline. Lets do from 400 ft onward.
Nice!
Is the height of One Vanderbilt accurate in that?
Could be that they stretched it to the older height of around 1500 ft (with spire)? CPT they got right , 1550 ft but with spire. Unless there’s a suprise in store which I still hope. But nervelessness, we at least get an idea of the changing skyline.
Which we can already see in the 57th Street Corridor and with HY quite dramatically. Much of these models are happening. 2020 will be closer to what we see above. 2018 should see 9 Dekalb finally gain steam, 45 Broad, and I hope we hear word of 80 South. Likewise for the Park Lane, but I suspect that will be long-term, sometime in the early 2020’s.
Time for a development map. Click to zoom (recommend full screen; f11). Via Emporis.
Green = existing (we can ignore the green, we care about u/c, planned)
Purple = u/c
blue = planned/proposed/pipeline
Gives us an idea of the nodes and regions where most of the construction and parcel activity is occuring. As we can see, Queens is on fire. Even Manhattan.
Just a snap shot of SSP diagrams for NYC. Built + u/c super talls and in order, the tallest towers.
Note the wide nature of it, so click to view.
Some proposal diagrams.
I feel like 2 WTC is missing from the proposed list
Its in a specific “on hold” list.
