There’s no way this thing has 210 fl. It’s an observation tower not a skyscraper.
Apologies for a bump in this thread and this may be a little off topic, but after seeing recent tweet about Dubai planning to build a second tallest building in the world, in my opinion this could motivate the Dubai Creek Tower to be revived in the near future.
Let’s gooo!!!
Per Gabriel on skyscrapercity:
- Dubai Creek Tower is currently being redesigned and construction to resume within 1 year
- Previous design is now outdated for the market and our vision has changed regarding the tower and now we are looking for something on brand and different
- A new design competition was conducted from which 1 was chosen to carry the redesign and is well underway now, hoping to reveal it in 7 to 8 months time.
That’s strange to me that they call this outdated. It has been a few years, but it’s not as long as 2 World Trade. Will be interesting to see what the new design is though
I’m curious of the new design as well. Also, I wonder how they’ll manage the foundation for it. Probably going to pile more if needed
Per grandmath on SSC:
Emaar’s redesigned Creek Tower is unlikely to be the tallest structure in Dubai, revealed founder Mohamed Alabbar.
Speaking exclusively with Arabian Business, Alabbar said work on the building’s design is ongoing. “A lot of work is still going on the redesign, I’m not sure it will be the tallest tower in Dubai. We have to always look at our bottom line and deliver value to our customers and our shareholders,” he said.
The tower, originally designed to be tethered to the ground with cables and 100m taller than Burj Khalifa, was meant to be the centrepiece of the Dubai Creek Harbour development. Work on the project was paused due to the pandemic after foundations were laid in 2017.
“There is not a set timescale for this, I have to be happy with the redesigns,” added Alabbar.
Looks like there’s a chance it’ll be shorter than the Burj Khalifa unfortunately.
I would still be happy as long as it’s still a megatall
This project might get revived. I hope it goes at least 800m!

Per Gabriel900 on SSC:
Here is the OG article with interesting snippets from it:
Arabian Business understands that the developer is looking at plans for a structure that would be close to the current height of the Burj Khalifa. Potential locations include in the proximity of the current Burj Khalifa in Downtown Dubai, and at Dubai Creek. Four different designs have already been closely examined, including a glass tube-style structure, a rocket-shaped tower and a futuristic design containing gothic spires.
Any super tower, sources suggest, would be a luxury-style project, focusing on high-end offices, hotels, leisure and residences, with heavy AI integration in both the design and operation of the building.
“This tower would be the biggest thing built not just in Dubai but the world since the Burj Khalifa. We have done it once, so we know better than anyone how to do it twice,” says a source close to the project.
My thoughts:
- They are working on a new tallest tower, taller than Burj Khalifa, they will not disclose this info or admit to it yet just like they did with DCT and how they made everyone believe it is just 900m, long enough for Jeddah tower to be at a stage where making it taller than the actual height of 1300m is impossible. This is the same tactic
- The designs considered are very interesting “a glass tube-style structure, a rocket-shaped tower and a futuristic design containing gothic spires.”
- They did not decide on a location! Emaar has land bank in Zaabeel and on the other side of Downtown, we could be getting a megatall slammed between BK and Burj Azizi, and if that was the case, DCT will have a 2nd megatall as centerpiece without it being taller than BK.
- Emaar is keeping their cards close to their chest as they should.
