Chicago | The Mile High (The Illinois) | 5280 ft | 528 FLOORS

Famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright’s vision for a Supertall skyscraper that would be been over 1 mile high, if built today it would be twice the size of the Burj Khalifa.

[Picture I took at the MOMA of an original rendition]

Wright envisioned this behemoth to be built in Chicago, Illinois and have parking enough for 15,000 cars and 100 helicopters.

something like this built (even on a smaller scale) before commercial air travel became so huge would have had a huge impact on how tall we build in the USA today. I would imagine the original WTC would probably have been made a single massive tower because the “human scale” would have been raised quite significantly.
