This building will look dated very quickly.

Bye Bye Vista Tower

I admire Grant Achatz and everything that he has done for the city when he could have abandoned us a long time ago for greener pastures like so many often do. However, I was hoping for another 3 Michelin Star worthy chef to open a flagship restaurant here to build another world-renowned brand. Alinea Group is officially a Chicago empire at this point. Too bad Curtis Duffy had all the legal issues that just now allowed him to open ‘Ever’ in Fulton Market as he would have created an excellent brand for this unique space.

I can’t get used to this name. This will always be Vista Tower to me

I wonder how it will impact the law suits to exit purchase agreements claiming that the developers didn’t follow through on providing a luxury hotel and the amenities that would come with. I’d imagine that any judge would rule that St. Regis and Alinea Group are as suitable of a replacement as any brands in the world.

If anything, St. Regis has more brand recognition.

Took a pic this morning. It’s a gorgeous tower from that angle.

Beautiful photo. From that angle this is one of the nicest modern structures in the world. The problem is lighting, distance and angles dramatically change the look of the building. If it looked like this on the south side and in all conditions it would be iconic.
