This building was proposed around last October and it was approved on January 18th. Demo and piling should be underway soon. This is a huge development, especially for Chicago. Unfortunately, there are not very many updates that I come across for this development, so this thread will not be updated very often.
With this, the Tribune Tower, and Wanda Vista, Chicago is on fire!
I live in Michigan so I’m not TOO far away from Chicago. I can’t wait to see when all of these are built
River North’s supertall One Chicago Square project targets January start
"The developer of One Chicago Square, a skyline-changing project slated for the block-sized parking lot across from River North’s Holy Name Cathedral, is targeting a January groundbreaking after securing a prominent joint venture partner, according to a recent report by Crain’s.
Chicago-based JDL Development will team with busy local developer Sterling Bay on the $850 million, two-tower plan at 740 N. State Street. The project will feature 869 rental units and condos, offices, and retail including a Whole Foods Market and a sprawling, 100,000-square-foot Life Time Athletic club, Crain’s reported."
Unfortunately there’s some bad news too
The tallest tower was knocked down from 1011 ft to 969 ft. Will not be a supertall. This is sad, but at the same time, I’m excited because this is a very tall building still!
