Just maybe, in the very distant future, I will be able to take the high speed rail trip from LA to SF, in my coffin.

Next stop Colma!

So is this cancelled or nah? Did the Trump administration yank funding?

The project only becomes more important and necessary every single year. With every regional rail improvement, Amtrak improvement, metro line extensions, electrification, etc. this project just becomes that much more useful. California really should be supporting it more tbh.

california cant afford it on their own - thats really the problem

It’s wildly expensive.

Let’s make it as inconvenient as possible!

The CAHSR railhead site was completed. This is significant because this facility is where track work is being staged. Things such as concrete ties, rails, catenary poles, and other items are delivered and staged here. Rail access is also provided to allow for delivery to points along the line and for the receipt of materials.

Gives an overview of the project, both the history and current situation. I don’t think it’s in bad faith so it’s a pretty good watch.

Public-Private Partnership. This is very good news. CAHSR owns a lot of land now, and it won’t use a lot of it for anything other than ROW. As mentioned in the article they can lease out some of that space for things like Fiber Optic lines, Electric Utility Lines, Development space, etc.

It says Winter 2026??? Pretty sure they meant 2025 unless I’m misunderstanding. Anyway video goes over current construction progress in the central valley.

Somehow missed this one while looking at the other one so here it is.

I think once the central valley is completed they need to put everything into getting to the Caltrain lines, once they’re connected I think this project is guaranteed to be completed. Actually I think once people ride it in the central valley alone they will demand that it be completed.

It’s hard to overstate how important this project is not just for California but the whole country. When completed this will be the gold standard for rail transit in the entirety of the Americas, and even I’d say better than anywhere outside of Japan or China. This project will connect 8 of the top ten cities by population in California, like 95% of the 40 million people who live there. (With future connections to BW it will also go to Vegas). Not to mention that along its entire route it is improving roads, bridges, utilities, freight rail infrastructure, etc all to modern standards. Just wish it had more support from the state gov, but I’m optimistic things will improve once the first segment opens.
