Is that first photo of the 1930’s one with a color filter over an original black/white one? Or is some AI generated drawing?

Sorry, it’s hard to make sence what is what these days on the web. :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s a B&W photo that was colorized

The only thing that’s the same is the eagoyle.

Was the stone of Chrysler’s facade shaved? If not, I’d say that’s the same too

Note the similarities between the South Tower and 3WTC.

What’s the big building behind Margaret Bourke-White in the 1930’s photo? Is it still standing?

About the First Pic:

Erie County Savings Bank
16 Niagara Street, Shelton Square, Buffalo, NY
Demolished 1968

In the background is the D.S. Morgan Building, which was demolished in 1965.

The old building in the background of the second photo is the Liberty Building, which still stands today.

Cleveland 1992 to 1950s

Cincinnati 1988 to 1938

Kansas City 1970s to 1994

St. Louis 1973 to 19993

The old Busch Stadium was later renovated, so it would be possible to compare it with the postcard from 1993.

San Francisco around 1935 to 1980

Detroit 1935 to 1990

Pittsburgh 1938 to 1988

Buffalo Public Library

This is just a small glimpse into my postcard collection.

But I’d take the downtown vibrancy and economic importance of the CBD in the 1950’s of those cities any day over a few taller buildings in their skylines.
