Even as it is now, Waterline’s made a considerable presence on the Austin skyline! Since I was last out there in September, they’ve gotten cladding up to the first tier! Hopefully now that they’ve got the supports up for the second tier, it’ll rise a bit faster!

I’m gonna go out on a limb and say Austin has a new second tallest.

It’s great to see people sharing posts about this tower in my home state. I didn’t expect to see it here, lol. Greetings from Texas!

Saw they colored some of the lines blue/purple?

Great pics! Looks to be around 6 more floors til T/O

Those blueish areas look to be the protective stuff that is added before the cladding (not sure the technical name), as those areas also currently lack windows.:face_with_monocle:

Yes the blue stuff is exterior sheathing to furr out the columns and give the cladding something to attach to for the terrace inset. These are on just about every other floor to continue the same terrace divisions on the floor plates.

Anywhere there is no cladding on the top tier (on the levels where there is cladding) are terraces. There will not be windows in these locations, just railing.

There’s a lot more than just 6 floors left, theres 12 more floors until the crown volume, and then the crown volume is the equivalent of about 5 floors.

Sorry, I should’ve mentioned I was counting the core in my guess (as it looks to be around 4-5 floors from where the steel is), but I was clearly off :grimacing: Anyways, it’s looking more epic the taller it gets (and a great first supertall for Austin)!

Let’s just hope that a few more supertalls are added in Austin.

Currently, the local news in Austin reports that the housin’ market is showing a slight decline. Many residents are movin’ out to the suburbs, and this project is expected to be the “last one” for downtown construction boom-wise. However, new projects may emerge in the future. Especially near UT (University of Texas)
