It’s absolutely disgraceful that for three years there was no proper bus terminal in that city. It’s great that it is back although a renovation is sorely needed because that terminal is grubby and nasty-looking.

epic fail

The city that flails.

Red-painted bus-only lanes will be implemented on:

  • Chestnut Street between Broad Street and 21st Street
  • Walnut Street between Broad Street and 19th Street
  • Oregon Avenue between 5th Street and Front Street

Philadelphia has seen success in implementing red-painted bus lanes on Chestnut Street from Broad Street to 2nd Street and more recently, on Market Street from 20th Street to 15th Street and on Erie Avenue from Germantown Avenue to Old York Road.

did I miss something?

SEPTA is taking note of what the MTA is doing and putting up platform barriers of their own. The MTA’s stainless steel ones are much nicer looking that they started using. I do notice that SEPTA put barriers to keep people from going in the space between the barriers. The MTA doesn’t do this likely due to the presence of 60 and 75 foot cars. SEPTA has one type of car for each line.

I wonder how these are installed…

Probably the same way as in NYC - using ten-man crews, with eight guys standing around watching the other two do the job.
