76 Place is going to be the new home of the 76ers, the basketball team.
Broad Street Bullies is a nickname for the Flyers, the hockey team, which is staying at the existing arena in South Philly.
The whole point of this project is that the Sixers no longer want to share an arena with the hockey team.
the Sixers would be the ones with this new nickname, or I at least assume that’s what the joke was
I guess. As a Philadelphian, I’m not sure that makes sense, though.
The Flyers earned that nickname and have Gritty as a mascot.
The Sixers just don’t have that kind of reputation. They have a Franklin the Dog as a mascot, which the team officially describes as “a lovable, furry pup”. Now, the reputation of Philly team fans is another matter, but the Sixers themselves? …

Absolute stupidity. But there will be residential overbuilds on the parking garages two blocks to the south, and a residential building on the block just to the south of this project as well

The bus terminal situation needs to be resolved in time for the 150th anniversary of the national centennial, scheduled for 4 July 2026, when the eyes of the world will be on Philadelphia.
The current arrangement on Spring Garden Street is shameful and embarrassing. A total humiliation.
