Did this station get Sandy damage? I can’t remember.
Portal Bridge, the HY Casing and Tonnelle Ave is NJT/Amtrak. PANYNJ has no involvement.
It got flooded and did sustain some damage. This renovation though is mainly to upgrade passenegr experience and accessibility.
The thing that bothers me about this station is figuring out which platform to be on.
Since the last update, the PATH has continued to be working hard to get the Hoboken Renovation done. They’re installing new tracks and switches and continuing to repair the station and make upgrades.
Here’s the full photo album showing current progress:
The Hoboken PATH renovation is to conclude tonight and the station will re-open on time tomorrow morning.
The PATH Station has been reopened and looks much brighter and clean. It’d be nice if they put floor tiles like they are doing at Grove Street but for what it is, it isn’t terrible as long as they keep it clean.
This looks great. Love what a difference of lighting and paint can do.
Also I appreciate the agency’s commitment to weekly updates and staying on schedule. It’s nice when a project can be done well and on time. Hopefully maintenance keeps it taken care of.
This article has some customer feedback with many being pleased with the renovation. Seems like the PATH gave out some free rides and coffee coupons, too. Newport is next up for renovations per PATH.
Didn’t they redo Newport after 9/11?
The MTA is going to start developing in-house consulting instead of relying on external project consultants for major projects. This should save a lot on costs since they don’t need to hire people for this.

That’s such a bigger improvement than the average person realizes. Could make so many projects more realistic when you’re not outsourcing for every little thing. It’s part of why other countries are able to build the same projects for a fraction of the cost.
Thank fucking god!
Everyone’s only been complaining about that obvious corrupt policy for… DECADES!
Good job!
Newport is a dump and needs a proper renovation. Look at the decay and grime. (Also, those floor tiles are ugly af, they got to go.)
The renovation will replace the flooring, waterproof the station, put in better lighting and other enhancements.
I suppose this will be of some benefit if you just catch a train, then you can walk the length to where you know you will want to depart.
