I will say the new buildings going up in Newark are high quality.

Almost great - the PTACs are ruining what could had be an amazing tower.
A lot of the NJ new construction are having them - it is the worst around Journal Square.

Most new towers in NYC’s outer boroughs have them too. For whatever reason it seems too expensive to build without them in the NYC region. Only in Manhattan, where rents are astronomical, are most towers built without them.

True, I think they look terrible in these new all glass buildings - they really stick out.

Agreed. If you’re going to do PTAC, then a flat smooth glass curtain wall is absolutely the worst facade choice aesthetically. My big problem with Namdar’s towers and 1 Journal Sq. At least Journal Squared, the Urby building, and the MVMK towers under construction will hide it better with varied facade materials, mullions, etc.

If you want true central air you have to make room for more ductwork.

The ductwork gets really long in tall buildings and is difficult to run and maintain.

This is close to topping out. Pictures from r/Newark

So the shortest building of this development is already within range of being the second tallest building in Newark. Amazing.
