NEW YORK | Xadia Hotel (58 West 39th Street) | 480 FT | 36 FLOORS

Its like a glassy toned down Tower Fifth…and I still kinda like this

Fricking ugly. Will be the second ugliest building in NYC if built. Second to 740 Eighth Ave.

The crown looks genuinely pleasant, and I honestly like the cantilever for how insane it is!

If an ugly stick kept hitting itself in the face, it would look like this.

This is still going at a snails pace.

Every detail must be perfect! Quality is paramount!

Right?!

We can only hope -

A good question in the YIMBY cover story: By Andrew A.
I don’t know the answer either - odd numbered buildings are always on the NORTH side of the street.

Quote from YIMBY feature article on this project -
The photographs show it to be clearly on the south side of 39th Street, yet it has an odd-numbered address. This doesn’t compute. What’s the story?” end quote.

I also don’t know if this is the ‘famous’ Andrew A… either way, good question.

It’s 58 West 39th Street.

It’s not 57 West 39th Street.

YIMBY is a very sloppy website that doesn’t have any fact-checking.

To the extent the website identified this as 57 and not 58 West 39th Street, then it’s just regular YIMBY sloppiness.

Nothing more to it than that.

Thanks.

Now I wonder if we can find out if he is the real Andrew ALPERN… :star_struck:

I have several of his books… :innocent:

This is 58 West 39th Street, not 57.

Looks like they are at about 1 floor/week now.

Something really cool about that last shot, w/the slight dutch angle

This has about 8 floors left till top-out (including the crown/bulkhead).
