Maybe will be converted to offices or luxury condos?
Banks are reopening more aggressively than initial rumors suggested: this means thousands of white collars coming back to midtown and FiDi⌠50% staffing for traders at JP is actually not much lower than pre-pandemic levels which were around 2/3 full on any given day.
Google is opening its offices as well, on a voluntary basis.
This is very very good news for the real estate community, as it helps dispel some fears of a work from home apocalypse⌠NYCâs largest employers are big banks and big tech.
looks like Target has confidence in the residential parts of Manhattan. The âColumbus Circleâ store is actually a couple miles north on Columbus Avenue between 97th and 100th streets.
Not far off from triple digits last week, stay safe.
Went to work yesterday and passed Herald Square and went along 34th as well⌠so many more people out and about doing normal things. Herald Square was actually quite busy. It was really a nice sight to see and the city is really coming back to life now.

Itâs not clear what will happen to the bunker after Frickâs temporary occupancy ends in the year 2023.
The end of an era
Love this idea. I really hope plans like this continue to move forward in spite of the cityâs financial crisis caused by the pandemic. I feel like the past decade has really seen NY take meaningful action in the right direction that other modern cities accepted long ago, which is GET CARS OUT of the city core and give right-of-way to pedestrians. Along with safe, clean, modern, affordable transit options.
Youâre right, it would be nice to have these new advances. Iâm just not to crazy about the design though, it looks straight outta China.
The more feasible and likely scenario is to make use of the 59th Street Bridge. Turn the southern car ramp into a pedestrian path (the views would be amazing). Leave the already existing northern path to just cyclists. Right now, cyclists and pedestrians dangerously share this path.
If we are trying to get fewer cars on the road anyway, why not make use of existing infrastructure?

With AOC saying the reallocation of 1 billion from the police budget isnât enough, I have to wonder if Occupy City Hall will end soon. She bolstered the anti-Amazon crowd, the same thing is likely to happen here. Her influence far exceeds just her district. She has much more support than the mayor, thatâs for sure.
