Could New York explore a bid to host the summer Olympics 1 time…
Now that the Olympics has moved towards regional hosting instead of a single city, this Winter Games may actually be feasible. And reusing old sites like Lake Placid is always a win. LA28 will be a good study in this.
Now that I think about it, imagine a Northeast Regional Summer Olympics with the major cities and their stadiums hosting: Boston, Providence, NYC, Philly, DC.
if they’re going to stretch the geographical limits all the way from Lake Placid to NYC they may as well go multi-state/city. That’s like 300 miles. Boston is waaay closer. Nevermind Philly.
It would be funny if the northeast gets a blizzard on the scale of the one we got this season though.
Do they call them sliders because they “slide” right through you?
Their banner reads:
“When the power of love beats the love of power the world knows peace.”
Of course they’re masked, because like anyone doing illegal stuff, they don’t want to be caught.
An update: they got arrested.
The full light show.
It seems the Verazzano did get some kind of lighting treatment after all.
Does it change color? That is unknown.

It’s actually quite bright.
I hope they light up as many as possible. I’m ok with a classic white for a good portion of them—they don’t all need to be multicolored. A lot of our bridges are feats of architecture, engineering, and design and deserve the shine as much as our buildings.
I agree with the classic white, but I have no problems with changing things up for special events, like what they do with the Brooklyn Bridge during July 4th, etc.
The Manhattan and Williamsburg bridges should get a lighting upgrade as well, especially the Manhattan Bridge. They’re exemplary works of architecture and should shine brightly at night.
I hope they implement the new lighting (even multicolored if possible) like what they did to the Bronx-Whitestone Bridge ![]()

That is what it appears to be. I do not think (or until I am proven otherwise) it changes color. It does look very nice, and it’s a shame the towers have been dark for so long.
This is the bridge from a DOT traffic cam:

Build! Build!
Oh, that’s bright!! Would be gorgeous if it’s in different colors
It is very bright. On clear days, I can see the bridge on the horizon from my neighborhood, and I’ll be able to see it even more so with the lit towers at night. Even if it doesn’t change color, the lit towers are a massive improvement, and it looks amazing. I’d love to get night pics one of these days of it.
