Made something of the sort a while back
Actually, that looks really sick. Especially if they gave it some cool lighting.
And that’s gotta be approaching 1 WTC’s height, or even taller
I mean…not an entirely bad idea but can we please get something better than a sarcophagus?
Hopefully, a developer can also get 10 E 52nd.
And 16 E 52nd, which is a very decent building, but I’d be willing to sacrifice it for something iconic.
Please, please don’t built this ridiculously ugly monstrosity.
It may look good from afar when the sun isn’t shining on it so it’s in the dark and all you can really see is the light from the windows, but that’s true of any building. Even ugly ones like this.
I mean it looks similar to Citigroup Center to me. Not the overall shape ofc but the materials and etc.
It really isn’t that bad and there are much worse buildings in the city. Besides, it’s not a glass block which seems to be what everyone is complaining about these days. It’s just something different and I think most people will come to like it in time. If it gets built at all that is.
it’s called a callus ; )
If they could just revise that top section of the tower, there is real potential with it. IDK, suppose it does happen, maybe it’ll grow on us, kind of how 740 Eighth Avenue, Extells development, is somewhat growing on some.
I don’t know about that.
That observation deck is the money printer for this building, and they’ll definitely be banking on being the tallest observation deck on the continent. As well as the huge glass walkway so people can look down
If the observation deck is the big money maker for this building, then they should get an architect capable of designing around around those levels and not have it look like a tacked on after-thought like it does now.
That’s pretty much the thought. They can get a world class observation deck that will sell (which most decks do anyways… its NYC), and they can make it appealing to work with the surroundings, considering its prominent nature. At 1500+ ft, there no hiding a poor design. Further factoring in the AMSL of the area. It’ll really be noticeable. Its perfectly understandable to have an outrage as well with the design, like many do. Anything that can dramatically alter a skyline, design has to be of the utmost important; 270 Park, CPT, 1 Vandy as examples of quality… to set a legacy and not a design that will be the focus of ridicule for decades. 432 Park as a case study where even years later, doesn’t really do much aside from its height.
I don’t mind the current façade for this tower but it would be nice if it has a mix of 277 Fifth and 245 Park Avenue’s facades
does anyone think that on the GIANT rectangle there should be at-least one part of it (Im thinking the left side of the tower as viewed in the render) that goes down like say a dress, just protruding from the mid section of the tower going down at a slant with a much more glassy finish than the rest of the tower. but only one of said dress like pieces and not all the way down the tower .
i say like if you just took a giant glass shard and put it into the side of the skyscraper on the left side on the corner as seen in the main render
I think they should start over completely on massing. This silhouette is just awful and compounded by its height. No fancy facade or spire add-ons would help this design in my opinion
I guess you’re right but I was just saying if they don’t completely change the design, just if they add more to the current one, by the way.
I like the building, the additions on top and a silver facade makes it one of the Best looking NYC supertalls in my opinion.
