Guessing game -
How long will this greenery concept last?
I’m giving it 11 months.
In a marine environment, plastic straws can take 200 years to decompose and plastic bottles 450 years so if your concept of green is a Radio Head song then you’re way, way off stache
Honestly I applaud them for attempting. Most of the time between rendering and reality it’s a barren bait and switch.
But I do feel like this type of greenery would be cooler in Miami (where maybe it would thrive). Unless you’re decorating with just evergreens.
I should have been more specific. I’m referring to the attempt to landscape this building. I’m very green in my own life. I have been using the same straw at home for several months now and always recycle/donate whenever possible.
It wouldn’t surprise me if after 11 months they switched to fake plastic trees, like most of the restaurant sheds in ny.
these do not look like highly manicured gardens. they looks like wild and hearty plants. although they will require maintenance, i expect them to last.
The lower half will definitely retain its vegetation. I believe the upper floors will have a lot more difficulty as the windchill is brutal up there in the winter. However, I saw a bunch of plants on the roof deck of One Vanderbilt so who knows
i am certain that the landscape architect considered this when specifying plants…

HSBC Holdings Plc is in talks to move its New York headquarters to a tower in the Hudson Yards district.
The London-based bank is considering a lease for roughly 250,000 square feet (23,200 square meters) of offices at the Spiral, a skyscraper being built by Tishman Speyer on Manhattan’s far west side, according to people familiar with the matter who asked not to be named because the negotiations are private. No deal is done yet and talks may fall apart

Much of the building has already been leased to tenants including Pfizer Inc., AllianceBernstein Holding LP and law firm Debevoise & Plimpton LLP.

Progress report on 66 Hudson!
I walked by the site yesterday and they’ve begun installing the curtain wall in place of the first construction elevator. The difference between the older (dirty) glass and the new (clean) glass is remarkable. It’s hard to tell in the photos because the glass is so reflective, but the building is filthy. It’s really going to shine once they get the BMUs working.
