nothing exciting. Amidst the current boom, that means it sucks.
I agree. The architects came up with a facade variation on the glass box and it comes off looking like the lazy exterior contractor made a gargantuan mistake. For a building on par with cityspire center in height this one is disappointing.
that top is bizarre.
I’ll move this to complete.
Bottom floors are interesting. Top floors are simply boring and a bit odd.
The whole building above street level looks like generic architecture: nothing more here than a typical blue glass box, with those vertical stripes added as a faint decorative gesture to break the monotony. The use of terra cotta panels for those stripes was a complete waste, as they could have used simple corrugated sheet metal to get the same bland affect: the nice terra-cotta material simply is not discernible to the naked eye. Things got dumb here somehow, and it did look promising from what was shown in the original renderings; so I can only conclude this turned out only ‘nice enough’. I think the cost and timeline required to build ‘something special’ or an ‘artistic looking’ building in NYC is simply too cost prohibitive; so one can not blame the Architects, and developers for playing it safe, affordable, buildable. To give further credit to the team: the interior finishes are very well done, and not over done witch is too often the case with luxury condo apartments.
Gotta say man, I just love reading your commentary.
