The current project has been cancelled because the property is for sale.

Interesting, so this is a redesign. I liked the facade of the previous design better. But this has a slightly more interesting form. It’s kinda a wash to me. I don’t like how it appears to “lean” towards the building next to it. Ugly bulkhead strikes again with a half hearted attempt to hide it. Could be worse.

I dont think it actually leans/is angled at all, i think the render is just a really bad photoshop job of perspective relative to the buildings on its left and right.

Hopefully this one comes along, I think the facade is kinda neat. I must say the immediate streetscape here is HORRIBLE. Really unfun crossing by foot in any direction and of course the intersection there is a traffic clogged hellscape. I feel like an elevated pedestrian walkway between the various buildings here would be warranted, although I fully realize given the subway and the bridge, that it would be super complicated and expensive.

That’s the thing about LIC. The walkability factor is horrible.

it takes 25 minutes to walk from LIC to LIC

This is an accurate description of my impression as a pedestrian walking throughout LIC. I will give this project some credit for being consistent (or contextual) with the neighborhood: the mediocre architecture blends perfectly with the mediocre streetscape.

On my aesthetic rating scale of good, better, best - this rates a solid GOOD. Architecture IMHO must be as least Good - this is nice looking enough.

QPX gets an E for effort; but definitely is not Architecture with a capital A.

Pretty sure you can use the mezzanine for Queens Plaza to cross part of this intersection.

I think the first few minuets of this video shows the “mezzanine” that crosses over this part of the intersection on Queens boulevard.

This video captures exactly how “horrible” the streetscape is in the Queens Plaza area.

This video also offers a look into the local street scene in the area. Enjoy.

This is the northern part of the mezzanine and the station.

In the middle, and next to this particular building this thread is about there is a set of stairs that lead to the central faregate area with a token booth as well as access to cross to the south side of Queens Boulevard (as well to the west side of Jackson Avenue).

There are also several crosswalks to cross this area from the north side to the south side in the video you posted. While the streetscape is not optimal, it certainly is not hard to cross than anywhere else on Queens Boulevard.

Thanks, I have done the street level crosswalks. It was a bit of a wait for the traffic lights, and had to look out for the bike lane too - but not bad. Typical enough for an urban confluence of trains, busses, cars, and pedestrians.

I was visiting this building - which is somewhere in that vicinity. This building shown in the model is by far the best work of Architectural design in all of LIC.

But back to the streetscape around 29-00 Queens Blvd / Queens Plaza - I think it makes a top 10 list of the worst intersections for pedestrians in the whole city when you combine the noise, near constant traffic, and having to cross busy streets to get to any sort of walkable neighborhood. It used to be even worse before they had the Dutch Kills Green greenspace which was around 2011. The nice thing about living here is that you have your choice of Queens Plaza or Queensboro Plaza so you have 6 subway lines at your doorstep. There is also a dedicated bike line on the 59th st bridge. Give this another 10 years and you may have the Sunnyside yards in your backyard, plus a more developed Dutch Kills and LIC all around and it may even be a not so bad place to live if you can deal with the immediate street.
