Indeed they have placed pavers on the west side, everything inside the property boundary has been waterproofed so paving should pick up pace now.
I’ll try to get to my friend’s place after work to take photos from the high vantage point.

I obviously can’t see the west side as what has been laid is just the smallest bit out of view/barely visible if you look closely enough under the marble upper center (and I’m not aware if there are any real available vantage points to see it but for the camera feeds (unless you work in One WTC), but there’s definitely been a lot of progress on the south side.
They still have the 2 granite panels to install but it seems like all the others are now installed, I’d have to check again for the 2 on the east side near the back. A nice feature that I don’t think many realize is that the base continues into the sidewalk to continue the square and a good portion of that has been installed (it’s very dirty atm) on the leftside of the front of the stairs. More of those pieces are waiting to be installed in the 2 wooden crates at center.
Curb installation is pretty much completed, the bigger pieces of granite that line/surround the bollards just need to be installed. And as Enterprise mentioned, 2 large portions of concrete have been poured in recent days/the past week but for a small trench dug between them and the corner of Greenwich and Fulton, it’s all completed and just needs to have the tarp laid onto it.
On the bottom right of the closeup you can see 2 of the 3 base attachment for the screens that will be installed for the venue to the immediate left of the plywood walkway. But generally, I expect to see a big difference even just in the few days until the weekend! I hope they eventually do what they did at St. Nicholas’ and eventually get to the point where they remove the solid fence and put up a mesh one.
Found an awesome video on Instagram with a ton of interior shots. The handle is queen.sav.
Here are the best screen grabs I could get:
There’s been a great deal of hardscape progress in the past week both on the sidewalk portion and within the property line. The granite panels completely the square shape of the base have all been installed as well as the 2 angled panels that were missing for weeks. The rest of the bollards have arrive for the corner portion and digging has partially started to set them into the ground, something that will probably happen very quickly.
I’ll try to get to my friend’s place tomorrow or Sunday to take the high view progress photos, but they had started planting trees yesterday. All of the curb granite stones that were lining the outside of the fence have either been brought into the zone or have already been installed.
One tree had been planted last I saw yesterday, the other one and maybe more may have already been planted, I’m going out in a few so I’ll see.
Edit it was too dark by the time I went out
, but I can still check whenever I go on my walk.
From yesterday evening, lots of stuff going on. 3 trees have been planted, stairs are getting their cladding now, it will be so good to just see the south western corner completed (upper portion in the images).
Nice photos. Question, are those stripes intentional in the lighting or are they do to the structural elements of the facade?
Only every other 3 rows of lighting are turned on in the interior ![]()
Gives a NY State theater vibe.
Great pictures! This is coming along so well.
Side note: they need to turn the base lights off at 1 WTC permanently. It honestly looks 10x better with them off at night then with the constant checkerboard panels being out. It doesn’t work right and it looks bad.
Before I saw your comment and looked at the pics I thought the same thing. It’s embarrassing and pathetic. The base turned into a bunker during the design process, there is no beauty left in it. Shut it off.
Just imagine as other buildings with integral LEDs start to age. I’m looking at the lighting tests on 2 Penn Plaza, thinking how nice they look, and thinking of how awful they’re going to look when even a single panel is out. Maybe I’m wrong, but these look to be a maintenance nightmare.
When it’s maintained and there aren’t random panels out, and they do a solid color or simple pattern, I don’t mind it.
BUT maintenance seems to be an issue, and just one panel on the fritz ruins the effect. Also when they try to show a dancing pumpkin for Halloween or some such nonsense, it looks tacky AF; it really cheapens the look of the whole area.
Had my friend get another picture from Fiterman hall to show progress on the east side since all the cams are still down.
Thanks for that! It’s always nice to see a higher view since you cant really tell much from a fence photo.
Unfortunately the W hotel cams are also frozen now, have been for over a week so I will also try to get pics from my friends high view point tomorrow!
Edit
I did get the photos yesterday and there has been a great deal of progress, another fence has been set up inside the overal perimeter one adjacent to the west side of the building so it’s quite possible they intend to open the entire plaza area between it and One WTC, which in itself will vastly open up that area.
I’ll post the photos after work today and go more indepth then👍
It’s crazy to walk by it and realize it’s 140 feet tall. I was expecting it to be the size of a normal 2-story house.
I do fully believe they will be taking down the western fence soon, it won’t be an over night thing though as the pavers underneath the original fence line need to be washed/cleaned, otherwise that area of the plaza is completed.
As is noted in the photos that Mackensen shared from the Yimby article, the stairs have received their caps and the handrailing has been installed, though there are still 2 more center railings that need to be installed. Paver installation is slowly making its way east.
I don’t believe the new bollards have been installed on the corner intersection yet, but I do think the area has been excavated for them. I’m also not sure if the 3 trees that were planted are the only 3 that are going on the south side.
There’s actually still a fair amount of work going on as it pertains to the east side of the building though.
Based off the images provided by TKDV, Sea_Roomba, and the yimby article I believe we can expect the new fence line to resemble something like this
