It looks like a larger, lighter version of the Kaaba in Mecca.

Speaking as someone that worked at NY State theater off and on for 22 years. It’s pretty awful working in a building with very few windows. You never know what the weather is like outside and it’s depressing in general. As far as aesthetics go, this cube is starting to look like the worst kind of mid century/International anti-environment structure. It will look wonderful at night.

I think the marble is stunning. In a sea of glass and steel and man-made materials to see this natural material being used in all of it’s glory is beautiful. I can’t wait to see it finished and lit at night.

Thank you!!! I feared the cam was completely gone!

I saw Qa’aba, I see windowless mall anchor big box store, does anyone else see the Masonic ashlar adorned with the eye of providence? This thing is ripe for conspiracy theorists.

Still don’t get the hate for this facade. It looks like nothing I’ve ever seen in NY, or at this scale. It reflects off the side kind of like glass, but looked at directly has a strikingly vivid veining. The lightness and smoothness prevents me from thinking it looks like a void the way the base of 1WTC does, or a big concrete building. Also worth keeping in mind that theaters rarely ever have facades with windows in them. Even Lincoln Center is boring and ugly from the sides which aren’t facing Broadway/the plaza.

On a technical level, yeah those metal pieces are fencing for the roof— maybe someone knows if this is a legal requirement?

But so far, the circled metal posts still haven’t been used. They clear below where the lowest horizontal bar of the fence is so I wonder if there is room for another thick layer of roofing.

The circled metal posts look like supports for a window washing machine track

I think this building is a jewel. It glimmers and glistens during the day, and the marble patterns are remarkable. When this is lit up at night I suspect it will blow us away. I’ve never seen anything like this before.

Ground Zero is going to look amazing at night when it’s 100% completed.

I can honestly see them finishing the marble installation late November/early December.

Full completion Q1 next year

After this, they also need to install the black stone (granite probably?) On the bottom two floors of this box. That was a last minute switch, from marble on top and bottom.
