Wasn’t thinly sliced marble the issue with Aon (Standard Oil) building in Chicago.
The original was far better. Not sure what to make of it now. Seems frenetic, out of control.
Mourtkay welcome! It was the adhesive they used to apply the marble that failed.
I definitely liked the original veining pattern better, but based on what’s been built so far I’d say the final product looks very good too. That marble facade looks incredibly expensive and lush.
Can’t wait to see the finished product lit up at night!
For real
Gonna love to see Ground Zero when it’s all finished. This beauty and the Church shining in the night, the somber memorial and then looking up to see 1WTC and 2WTC (which I hope at least rises to the height of the original 2WTC)
Anyway I hope it gets entirely complete before the anniversary in 2026.
Awesome!!!
With the new crane set up I assume the pace will pick up on multiple sides. It appears there are slabs of marble near this crane on the South side now though I don’t know much this can actually do.
At night when lit, this may make up for the disastrous base of One WTC next to it.
This and the church nearby.
This looks horrible by day.
I agree.
Maybe this is a prototype for the windowless dorm being envisioned for UC Santa Barbara.
It’s coming together just like the renderings. No idea why people dont like it. It matches the area well.
Anyone know what these new materials are on the roof?:
-
fence/rebar-like segments with base that lines up to weird square holes on roof perimeter
-
thin shiny metal sheets
-
cubes wrapped in white plastic
-
short black metal bars in the same color/finish and width as the black metalwork holding the facade
They must have to have some type of railing around the edge of the roof. Maybe also waterproofing materials? Another question. Is anyone else having a problem with the link to the Kerrigan synology camera link? I haven’t been able to view it for over a week!
The link is now dead, id guess permanently.
The good news is you can still view the cam manually:

Where you fill in those spaces with year, month, date, hours minutes formatted in that precise way
For example: http://www.earthcam.net/archives/d27726f9315a3ecc0d8c398ce12cbfbd/2021/11/02/0830.jpg
The PAC view is on intervals of 45 minutes starting at 0100, ie 0100, 0145, 0230, 0315, 0400. This is in 24 hour time, no separation between hours and minutes.
The 1WTC view and zoomed out PAC view are also available, on a staggered schedule
With a little programming it would be easy to make a fetcher for this
