“LESLIE KOCH NAMED PRESIDENT OF WORLD TRADE CENTER’S PERFORMING ARTS COMPLEX”
“Koch is best known for her ten-year tenure as president and CEO of the Trust for Governors Island. Under her leadership, Governors Island, the home of an abandoned military base, was transformed into a new public space, comprising a park and several exhibition spaces and cultural heritage sites, and visitation grew from eight thousand people per season to more than six hundred thousand”.
Any news on the PAC starting soon? It was said that it starts this month, but it still looks like the ground level has open holes to the underground corridors.
They have been doing massive concrete pours lately. I’m thinking they need to finish the entrance/exit ramps to the VSC here before going any further above ground. Looks like they’re close. Maybe they’ll be starting more above ground work around the end of the summer. We still need a crane back in here for the building.
This. Concrete is almost done — I think some holes will remain to the underground so there is access to the basement from the above structure. I also am pretty sure the temporary 1WTC loading dock needs to come down for the PAC to be built, so the VSC needs to be fully connected and functional — either through that new entrance or the underground passages recently connected to the south end of the complex

“Almost all the work so far on the performing arts center has been subterranean. The formation of the circular ramp made from a number of steel components and rebar must be completed before work on the main bulk of the building can commence. Additional rebar and metal decking are continuing to be set in place along the western section of the property. At the moment, there are several ends of steel columns sticking out from the ground level. This is where adjoining steel beams will be attached and support the angled box shape of the structure.”
