NEW YORK | One World Trade Center | 1,776 FT | 104 FLOORS

Excuse my language, but shout out to Durst for not fixing the beacon for NINE FUCKING YEARS NOW! What the hell!!!

And Durst don’t think we don’t have the receipts. I do remember an article (probably posted on here) that SPECIFICALLY said Durst was fixing the beacon after lightning damage, I believe back in 2017. Can we please stop treating icons to this country like shit

The beacon got replaced with a different design. It doesn’t rotate anymore but they installed a long range light about a year ago that remains visible beyond where the rest of the spire is dim. It blinks rapidly and isn’t quite like the Eiffel Tower but it is better than nothing

It is distinct on the approach highways to NYC from Jersey, probably visible out to around 20 miles

That ain’t a beacon, that’s a standard FAA light. The original beacon was awesome and unique, something teased since back when Revenge of the Sith released! What’s up there is truly cheap and thoughtless

The “new” beacon light is just about the same lighting intensity as the original rotating one, it’s a little far fetched to compare it to a standard FAA light, especially when the beacon is sitting underneath a standard FAA light.

Now we’re actually agreeing on something lights-related!

I’m pretty sure it actually is a modified version of the original beacon, because there was never any serious rigging up on the antenna to hoist heavy parts up there. I think they just replaced the rotating mirrors with something omnidirectional and set the lights to blink rather than stay on continuously.

This firm switched out the spire LEDs during the overall lighting refit of this building, but it doesn’t mention anything about the beacon light in particular.

At least the lights are on.

Just wish the mech floor lights would match the rest of the building. They stick out too much.

There are now around 100 different companies based at 1 WTC - excluding broadcasting.

“Axsome Therapeutics signed a 96K SF sublease deal at One World Trade Center, according to first quarter office market reports.

Two sources with knowledge of the deal told Bisnow that Axsome is taking the space from Condé Nast parent Advance Publications, which leases 1.2M SF of the 3.1M SF supertall in a deal that runs until 2039.

Axsome, which specializes in developing novel central nervous system therapies, is already headquartered on the 22nd floor of One World Trade. It signed a 10-year, 48K SF sublease with Advance two years ago.

One source said the 96K SF sublease is actually a one-floor, 48K SF expansion for Axsome, rather than nearly 100K SF of new occupancy”.
