It looks from those wall diagrams that they are workshopping variations on the crown, which I think is good news. I love it from about 60% of the angles I’ve seen it, but in a few renders it’s looked a little awkward. Plenty of time for them to get it perfect. (Where was that shot taken, btw?)
of the model?? I’m assuming it was taken at Ten Guerian Architectural modeler shop in downtown.
Here’s more.

@10guerian
Haha yeah, I didn’t mean of the completed tower, since that would require a bit of fancy time travel. Anyway, I didn’t know anything about Ten Guerian, but looks like a fun place to work!
I agree, I would be working in that shop all day and night. lol
Imagine the Jenga tower that would result from the beer cans and Doritos bags. Hell, you might create an Ingel masterpiece at the end of the day.
That would be almost architectural incest to do that… but I think they ARE looking for more inspiration there.
I would prefer a redone crown.
I honestly quite like the crown it is very neo art deco IMO.
I agree.
That is spectacular! I really do hope they still have intentions of having occupied space in the crown, preferably an observation platform, which could easily be the tallest in the city
Nice!
One Vanderbilt will have retailers, including one “unbelievable” restaurant operator that will also run the top floors of the 1,500-foot-tall skyscraper. “It is truly focused on a world-class hospitality restaurant,” says Brett Herschenfeld, managing director of SL Green Realty Corp. One Vandy’s developer.
This tower will be amazing.
Agreed! This is gonna be a Goliath.
I think this will be the capstone of the boom. And probably the tower that has the largest effect on the economy around it.
This tower will really transform this area, which, not long ago, was a dump. Do you guys remember the flea market that used to be at 42nd and 5th?
Such a shame Pershing square never came to exist. It would have been really great to have another plaza right by Grand Central. It would’ve really enlightened the area. Instead of just the Hideous Viaduct that’s there now.
The Viaduct and the raised road encircling GCT should be made into a Highline-style park.
if there was any project they could turn into a megatall and it look and feel right it would be this. As much as they are investing in the infrastructure they should be allowed to build whatever the F they want.
At this location in the heart of Manhattan a megatall would be the ESB of the 21st century (assuming they got the design right too).
