So I finally treated myself to a DSLR and it arrived tonight. I didn’t realize I had an effect turned on for this shot… but it still came out cool.

I took off a few days next week so I hope to get some serious practice in… :smile:

I have always liked the Metlife Building actually. I love how it straddles Park and looking up Park you see a huge building there, makes it unique in positioning. :sweat_smile:

IMO the Met Life (Pan Am) Building is both an architectural and urban planning disaster. It utterly wiped out an iconic view of Grand Central and the NY Central Building (now Helmsley) from the south. The NY Central building was designed by the same architect as GCT as part of a “terminal city” complex which should have been protected from such despoliation. Here is a view of what it used to look like.

It also wiped out a nice (though fairly dull) office building wing attached to Grand Central. To me Grand Central look very stubby not only without the back portion anchoring it like early postcards show but also a giant dull box hulking over it.
