NEW YORK | New York Casino | FT | FLOORS

Ah, that’s understandable, but in general, you’re always going to see the bigger gaming corporations making headways or being selected to partner for a development, it’s not really a sector where small companies venture out or are chosen out of unsureness.

Another proposal on the table.

I wouldnt call it a “another” proposal, it’s just the same proposal thats been discussed over at Phase II between Related/Wynn.

Eitherway, the list of things seems like it would call for a fairly large building, 1500 rooms, the casino, 20 restaurants, a theater, and a nightclub. 1500 rooms is not small by any means and theaters also require alot of space. Comparatively, the Marriott Marquis has 1949 rooms but doesnt have any of the otherthings and is a fairly large building. The proposed hotel tower would be over 1 million sqft on its own.

I imagine that this one gets picked for one of the licenses. But regardless of if it does or not, I can’t wait for this process to be over so related can finally start on phase 2 and fill that hole.

(Also does that say 20 restaurants?)

I love how the New York Post map puts the United Nations in the Lower East Side and Hudson Yards in the Meatpacking.

What a pathetic rag. Everyone who is employed by this imitation newspaper should be deeply ashamed.

Rupert Murdoch is a real piece of work.

There is a reason why he was run out of his native Australia as well as England.

Times Square is clearly far-and-away the best location for the Casino, it’s just so obviously better than any of the other options, and it has the backing of so many major players in the city. At this point, I would be gobsmacked if another location is chosen over SLGreen/Ceasars/JayZ in TimesSq

Technically the 3 licenses could still all go to NYC based bids, but it’s just expected that 2 of them will generally go to other downstate casinos and the 1 in NYC.

@Waymond_Womano I’m not trying to defend the NYP, lol, but technically almost all the 5 locations are wrong, Citi Field is on top of the NYS Pavilion and Coney Island is closer to Brighton Beach. But I’d assume that they just plopped the 3 in Manhattan sporadically because they would’ve all been so close together on the small map.

Even if Related/Wynn’s bid is not chosen in the end, I’d still like to see any drawings of the proposal if any were made.

If part of the decision by the board is “maximizing revenues received by the state and localities;” A casino license outside of the city shouldn’t even be considered.

Resorts World NYC (in Queens) was the highest grossing gaming property in relation to how much tax revenue it generates for it’s state (in 2020), surpassing those in Las Vegas, and other big gaming cities/states in the country.

But one shouldn’t be so quick to think that locations outside of city centers/metropolitan areas don’t do well. They do extremely well in any state. And you also have to consider that the criteria is also going by localities, not just state impacted revenue. Resorts World Queens does well in NYC, but so do the other casinos in other locations throughout the state.

Built a casino on HY Phase Two.

Any development in Phase II at HY would not be anywhere near the size of Ocean Casino, it’s covers >20 acres compared to Phase II’s <13 acres, and not all of the area would be used by the development. The only thing comparable is the general size of the tower which has 1,399 rooms and suites, but that’s not to say that the rooms at a HY development would even be the same size. The Grand Hyatt before Covid had over 1300 rooms and is a quite sizeable building with a large number of small sized rooms.

There is no existing casino in terms of scale that can be compared to what is being proposed at HY because we have no idea what it even looks like, the figures and ideas can’t just be generated from the information that is now available.

If the overall development is confined to one block of the 3 that make up Phase II, it would be comparable in size to the overall scale of 30 Rockefeller Plaza, the 2 annex buildings across the sunken Plaza. and the underground retail just under 30 Rock.
