NEW YORK | LOW-RISE / GENERAL Development News + Construction

Wow, this has been stalled for 14 years, and now you can buy this narrow frozen construction site for only $1,850,000.

The buyer will probably need to raze the rusty frame and start all over to build these skinny floors.

This would be perfect for a person(s) with a sizable library. You could spread your collection across every floor. A lot of people would go crazy in something this skinny but I’d have absolutely no problem with it.

Construction resumed late last week on the in-progress mixed-use building at the northwest corner of First Avenue and Second Street. This is the first activity we’ve seen on the site since late last summer.

As we noted in October, according to Department of Buildings filings, the project has changed from a seven-story, 22-unit building to an eight-story, 24-unit building. There are also plans for three retail spaces on the street level.

12 midtown parking spots…$6K mo x12 = $72K/year. Had you bought that lot 6 years ago, it would have been paid off by 2046 @Waymond_Womano

Are we in the middle of East River or East Berlin?

lol, I think a 24hr parking spot in midtown runs anywhere from $450-$1200 a month. I used to be a valet and I could easily get a good 12 cars into that lot (assuming we have a lift system).

It seems the GWB towers will no longer be lit only on special occasions. As a part of the major renovations, the floodlights were upgraded to LED which means they use less electricity. The towers will now be lit daily until 10 PM, effective this week.

I wonder if it only lights up in white or if it can change colors.

Even better they stay lit until midnight and slowly fade out over the last 2 hours. That would be even more badass in my book.

Nothing was mentioned about the towers having color-changing capability. I also would like it to do that, as that would be epic for holidays. I do know they can change the LED colors on the lights on the suspension cables.
