This is architectural ‘artfulness’ at it’s finest. Opulence, texture, refined detailing, stone facade; and all done in a completely contemporary style.

Very cool project and really puts the chapel as the focus.

It does seem like a good plan, but at the same time still a reminder of how shocking it is that Staten Island has all these pockets of high ground with incredible views that are totally squandered by low-density uses. Look at that site. Close your eyes. Imagine a pair of 30+ floor towers here with sweeping views of, well, everything. In any other alpha city that’s what would be getting built.

485-x in its current form will not work long term when it comes to solving the housing crisis. It will also impact rezonings such as Jamaica and LIC by producing less housing than what is allowed by the new zoning. It’s an election year, therefore, I don’t see Hochul touching this until next year.
