The FDR should be closed below 96 St. I used to live near Rockefeller, and walking along the river with maniacal drivers in that area (and the whole East River waterfront) is not pleasant. The whole thing should be a park.
The architecture at 601 Washington Street is beautiful; this gem has been flying under the social media radar. There is also a ‘hidden beauty’ to this project I rarely comment on with other projects; an unusually high standard of construction craftwork for NYC. I generally don’t like to make critical or disparaging remarks about new construction posted on these threads; but there is a lot of poor quality craftwork going on in way too many of the new construction condos in NYC - not the case here. I have over 40 years experience in NYC architecture/construction and interior remodeling to be in ‘the know’ on the subject; quality construction craftwork is too often unnoticed and unappreciated. Lovely project INSIDE and OUT…
Another high-priced, boutique office building is moving forward in Midtown South.
Real Estate Equities Corp.’s development at 1 St. Mark’s Place in the East Village landed a nearly $80 million construction loan, according to property records filed with the city Wednesday.
South Korean financial services firm Hana Financial Group provided a $31.1 million mezzanine loan, and Madison Realty Capital provided a $48 million first mortgage.
A representative for REEC — headed by Brandon Miller and Mark Siegel — declined to comment.
REEC is planning to develop a 10-story, 65,000-square-foot office building on the site at the corner of St. Mark’s Place and Third Avenue.
