This is one of the most prominent waterfront sites in NYC; the way it sits on the edge of that land mass is quite unique. I am surprised and a bit disappointed to see the architectural equivalent of ‘Lego Land City’ being built here on this lovely site.
New York City, as the saying goes - “we can do better”.
This looks quite nice. I would describe this simply as an artful assembly of distinct forms, colors, textures.
My guess is the functional program requirements for the optimal use of the building was also well done. There are so many aspects of the architectural design we can not see that affect the final form: views, natural light, usage type for future occupants, etc.
In terms of both form/function this project has lived up to the demands of this prominent site. I am pleasantly surprised how well this has turned out; as compared to most of the other boring boxes along that Queens/Brooklyn waterfront.
