Bella Abzug park opened another block north.

Speaking of parks/greenery, I hope that traffic lanes on 11th Ave are reduced dramatically and replaced with greenspace. The Westside Highway is one block to the west; thus, there’s no need for five traffic lanes on 11th.

So am I right in counting only 3 supertalls for all of HY?

30 HY - 1,268 ft / 395 M
The Spiral - 1,041 ft / 317 M
35 HY - 1,010 ft / 308 M

With plans for only 1 more in 418 11th Ave.

3 Hudson Boulevard is still planned as a supertall. But aside from those, there are I think about 2-3 other potential sites for borderline supertalls besides 418 11th Ave.

It’s also possible that one of the Phase II towers is a borderline supertall.

Manhattan West is part of the rezoned district, so 1 Manhattan West as well, and according to YIMBY 360 Tenth avenue, which is adjacent to Manhattan West.

I had forgotten about 3 Hudson Boulevard, isn’t that one on hold?

Interesting, I didn’t know about any other potential sites besides 418.

How could I forget Manhattan West?
Also 360 Tenth? I’ll have to look that one up

Yeah, it’s still on hold, but unless things change, it’s still planned as a supertall. The other sites in question are just up to how those developers approach their buildings and designs, they could and couldnt be supertalls.

360 10th Ave is the small lot to the east of 10 Hudson Yards, south of 5 MW. It could probably support a supertall as it’s original design was, but the last known design was kind of short, but there’s still currently no plans for it.

Okay so

30 HY - 1,268 ft / 395 M
The Spiral - 1,041 ft / 317 M
35 HY - 1,010 ft / 308 M
One Manhattan West - 995 ft / 303 M

With sites at 418 11th Ave and 3 Hudson Boulevard being very likely additions.

Plus several possible sites, though with no idea of actual plans

So currently so far we have:

  • Three 1,000+ footers
  • Three 900+ footers
  • One 800+ footer
  • One 700+ footer

Speaking of, do we know what the phase 2 residential towers will be like? They don’t need the large floorplates of the office buildings so they’ll be skinnier, but I don’t know if that will translate to them being pretty tall

They definitely wont be anything like the 57th st towers, theyll be more akin to the residential stuff going on in the area and then some. I’d say the tallest of them would maybe be in the 800’ range, but thats just based off all the different renders that have been made of Phase II.

From what I remember, I think those towers will be of different material (eg. maybe limestone) in contrast with the glass towers of Phase 1.

Yeah I wasn’t thinking 57th Street skinny. I was just thinking 35 HY, 15 HY, etc.

I wonder if they’re still going with this plan ^, or if they’re going to downsize it

The thing is is that the depiction in The Edge observatory walk were never really serious proposals. While the architects works are clearly visible, (RAMSA, Calatrava, and Gehry) and are said to be the designers for the Phase II buildings, we dont have any idea of what is actually being proposed.

And that is outside of the fact that the depiction is wildly sized in all aspects. But using that specific depiction as a reference to what is supposed to be built then yes, I would say everything would be downsized.

Ah, that makes sense now. I’m still curious about what the Phase II plan will look like now that the casino may be in place.
