HY could simply buy the guys cool, well-designed food carts if they don’t like the aesthetic

Do those “beach cooler” ladies really sell to random people on the street? I’ve only seen them set up to sell to (seemingly specific) construction crews at break times. I just assumed it was usually a couple of constructions workers’ wives making a buck serving cheap eats to the crew. …which I have no problem with. I mean if you’re a non-union construction worker trying to support a family, the majority of Manhattan lunch options would be quite pricey. Even most licensed food carts on the island aren’t that cheap.

Yes, they sell to the general public. Take a bus ride up Broadway starting at about 86th Street (I do often) and go all way to the the Bus Depot by the GW Bridge entrance: you will see one on about ‘every’ corner, and/or mid-block.

They are everywhere these days, something I think really hurts the licensed food cart operators, and small shops. I recall, years ago, seeing construction workers on lunch/morning breaks; they were always lined up buying food from the street carts, or small local shops - now they go to the “beach cooler ladies”.

This is what is really hurting those food cart vendors; the Hudson Yards issue is nothing compared to the onslaught of these ‘underground’ operators. I travel all over NYC daily - so I know the extent of this ‘new market’ is massive. It is all ‘under-cover’ and not widely noticed - and therefore unregulated.

I am not personally affected; but surprised those vendors in the photo above are not protesting the illegal street vendors, instead of Hudson Yards. This is just sort of a NY thing - very funky.

was it also the most expensive hotdog you ever bought? lol

I once drunk bought a soft pretzel outside my hotel near one world trade center. It was a disappointment. Even for someone under the influence.

My final word on the Hudson Yards food vendor topic: the macro-economic implications. Over population, immigration and living with your eyes ‘wide open’. Solve problems, deal with consequence - these are some hard truths in this video; it is both informative and enlightening.

This forum has always been home to some pretty conservative opinions, but I’m pretty shocked that we’re now openly sharing far-right anti-immigrant propaganda.

I am pro-immigration; smart, sustainable and Legal immigration. I find that video to be good, factual information; not political partisan nor ‘anti-immigrant’. Sorry to hear that is how you view that video - your opinion is welcome and valued. I agree with Most, but not all of the content: I hope others find this video informative, and non-offensive.

You’ve always been thoughtful and even-handed in your commentary, so I genuinely don’t think you’re trying to spread invective. But Wooldridge has a history of scapegoating minorities for “destroying our culture” and as HerrDavid highlighted, BitChute is primarily an outlet for far right hate speech that would get banned from YouTube. So even if the content of this particular video is relatively tame, it’s opening a door to a whole world of bigoted hate speech. Using Wooldridge as a point of reference reflects about as well on this forum as posting “measured” opinion pieces by Alex Jones or Richard Spencer.

Nonsense. I see a video that contains information that I find intelligent and truthful: whatever political implications or offensive content you see is entirely your prerogative. I personally do not have any particularly strong political leanings; I see good points, and policies on both sides.

I post what I find interesting and informative and will continue to do so unless the owners of this site, and the admin choose to censor my posts. I would prefer to have you like, and agree with what I posted; if you don’t that is OK too. We can only agree, to disagree at this point - rather than go off too far on this tangent.

Cheers

Seems to me we should just stick to the topic of this forum and not go off on these political tangents. Nothing good comes from it and there is nothing any of us can do to solve all the world’s problems.

I don’t know if we have a page for this, but I’ll just put it here because it’s close to Hudson yards.

Does anyone know when we might see renderings for phase two now that the pandemic is coming to an end?
