Maybe Flix will take over -

Per NYguy:

A lot to look at here. First a comparison of the site plans…

Here you can see what changes from plan to plan:

The shiny casino…

A look at some screenshots…

There’s no surety that it will be built. It will only be built if a gaming license is awarded here.

Hudson Yards, Times Square and Citi Field feel like the best spots for casinos in the city. Fingers crossed this works out.

The residential tower in Phase 2 might end up being the most interesting building of the entire development.

There’s more snippets of animations of Phase Two on the site. I find it incredibly odd that an article labled this work as AI when it’s obviously CG

I’m probably in the minority when I say I don’t care for the design of the resort, it’s just blah and so so. No integration of the tower into the podium, just stuck right on top and there’s very minimal relation to either. Resorts are of course often monolithic structures but they can be designed pretty nicely from other precedents that do exist.

SOM isn’t very familiar with casinos and resorts so i dont blame them, but I feel like more could’ve been done. The podium is way too boxy, even with the little cut outs and curves. No wonder the Highline doesnt want it to be built, because it “is” overwhelming.

The residential tower will definitely be the only interesting thing coming out of this if they are awarded the license.

apparently the casino license will be given out to one of these projects sometime the middle of next year. If that happens for HY, the whole western yards will go in earnest

No, I agree with you. The tower does look very much slapped onto the podium. I wish the podium itself would step up to the tower kinda like this

But even after making this drawing I still get a slapped on feeling

The podium for the resort had a maximum height threshold that it could not pass which is probably the reason for it’s bulkiness and bland monolithicness.

I think partial stepping would’ve been an interesting take especially on the Highline side, but even if on the 33nd St side the tower came all the way to streetlevel or was integrated into the base it would’ve looked better, but it is literally just stuck right on top.

It’s a very elegant design, but elegant doesn’t mean something has to be as the podium appears (can’t find better words).

I like your base. It has a 1930’s streamlined look.

I doubt it. Flix runs their buses from a site at 31st St & 8th Ave, right across from Penn Station. That is much more convenient for travelers than this remote site across from Javits Center. In the long term all intercity buses should go to the rebuilt Port Authority Bus Terminal.

Do we know who the architects are for the three towers? The residential tower looks like Heatherwick. The office tower and Wynn Resort look like they could be SOM.

I mentioned somewhere here that its all SOM, might’ve been a different thread.

Edit (mentioned it in April on the 350 Park avenue thread for some reason).

The Wynn Tower should be taller. They should really go for a showstopper and aim for 1,600FT like 350 Park.

There were zoning restrictions on height put in place, the towers can’t get taller without filing for another zoning application.

How the roof of 40 Hudson Yards will look based off those new renderings. And for the residential building, the terrace on the west is taller than the one on the opposite side
