Does it make sense for this to have its own thread, I thought all the casino proposals were just being posted in New York Casino
We don’t know what proposals will be chosen, so if they don’t get a license they won’t be moving forward.
I suppose but regardless of whether this site is chosen as a casino something is still gonna happen here.
Personally I’d rather they didn’t go with a Casino and instead put another stadium right where they’re planning the Casino. Maybe one for the Giants? Maybe then they’ll stop losing so much.
Good site for a stadium
The city needs more of these pedestrian connections between neighborhoods. There needs to be another connection between the LIC and Greenpoint waterfronts.
plenty of additional renderings to the ones above, also gives more detail to the project. I really hope this proposal takes off
video posted on their YouTube channel!! the new reveals look amazing, but im still confused with what they’re doing with the hotel towers
Nice overview video. Thanks for posting. I like the park and I never considered there being another large entertainment venue inside the Hard Rock. So artists can either perform at Citifield or that new venue. I think there is a real symbiotic relationship between the baseball/soccer venues and casino. People can literally spend all day and night there. Personally I’m not a gambler but I really do like the idea of building out this entire area as an entertainment complex.
It also further decentralizes Manhattan which I’m in favor of. Tourists can fly into LGA and scurry over to the Hard Rock and spend a few nights. They can jump onto the 7 or LIRR when they want to spend the day in the city.
The worst thing is the demise of the LGA AirTrain now that this proposal exists. Had that been built, airport passengers would have a direct rail shuttle from the airport to what will essentially become a major entertainment destination with the hotels, soccer, casino and baseball stadium, along with a connection to the 7 for access to Manhattan.
I feel like we are way past that project
The LaGuardia AirTrain would have been located just south of the LIRR station.
While close, travelers would have to traverse over a quarter of a mile on rickety wooden boardwalk that’s older than the last time the Met’s World Series without any protection from the weather.
Not exactly optimal nor faster than taking an Uber directly from LaGuardia.
As for the project, I wish it included some retail elements (maybe beer gardens or something like that) that would face outwards towards the stadium but I realize this being a casino that would go against the design language of such venues.
