Thankfully this plan is as dead as the dodo.
And why is that?
Yes, let’s go!
I’m not sure what the total price would be for the tolling, but regardless there will still be public backlash and opposition to this. Still would be interesting on how this will turn out
Too bad for them Ig.
Downtown Manhattan is one of the most heavily transit dense locations in the entire US, not to mention the tens of thousands that walk and bike it.
Not only is this good, it’s needed.
Also this has been proven in bigger cities than NYC.
Ah I see
Also, this is my personal opinion but I think the city will be less noisy (even quiet) especially at night/midnight if this goes through
If this is implemented I hope the money does go to where it’s supposed to, the upkeep of the subway along with funding for expansion of the system. Not into the pockets of MTA bureaucrats.
I’m hoping it puts the damper on the vroom vroom bridge and tunnel crowd.
Ah, I see. Do you think that the buses and trains will be much more crowded this time if this goes through?
24/7 speeding cameras, congestion pricing, gas over 4$ a gallon, I dont know why any sane individual would drive into manhattan after this goes into effect. But businesses can’t be happy. I wonder how much the cost of food will go up downtown with trucks possibly paying exorbitant prices to deliver food to stores and restaurants. If they have a brain between their ears wholesale deliveries should be exempt. Ideally, these tolls should only target single occupancy personal vehicles.
I think those trucks including emergency vehicles are exempt from the tolling, I could be wrong though. I’m curious about the trucks for construction
Also I almost forgot about the gas prices like you mentioned.
That is the intent of it. Besides there’s always those super rich people who love to drive their cars in Manhattan, and they won’t have a problem paying.
Yes probably.
